Greater Los Angeles Save Darfur Coalition (GLASDC)GLASDC is a group of like-minded individuals of varying backgrounds that have joined to bring awareness of the social and environmental crises in Sudan. We are a not-for-profit group and we receive no monetary payment for any of our actions. Our mission is to promote awareness, stimulate political action, and raise funds for the displaced people of Darfur. We urge the international community to take measures to protect the innocent civilians in Sudan and it’s bordering countries. We strongly believe in the power of people to bring peace to areas afflicted by violence. We encourage others to believe in their own power to create change.Stop Genocide Now (SGN):SGN is a grassroots community dedicated to working to protect populations in grave danger of violence, death and displacement resulting from genocide. Through active education, advocacy and policy change SGN resolves to change the way the world responds to genocide. SGN is currently focused on creating awareness and and action to stop the genocide in Darfur and deal appropriately with its aftermath. All of our projects focus on and utilize the strength and power in grassroots connectivity. StopGenocidNow.org consists solely of volunteers. There is no paid staff. We are thankful to all our volunteers and partners that help make our work possible.GLASDC and SGN have united efforts to produce Songs For Darfur to raise money for the refugees living in the Kounoungo and Mile camps in Chad. The event is designed to allow the audience to be a part of bringing lasting change through supporting education and basic needs to the survivors of the genocide. We also wish to allow the audience to relate to the people that they are helping through their attendance and contributions. We will be exhibiting video footage, photos, and telling stories of the specific children and families that will receive the funds raised.
