Deemed the South’s New Sound, James Rashond Wiggins but you know him as Jay Wiggs is making strides to become the next big thing. Comparable to the energy of T.I., but the look of Lupe Fiasco, his rap style stands alone. Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina this twenty-three year old has had a love for music for as long as he remembers going back to the days when he would visit his uncle in Brooklyn, New York. He reflects on the times they would go to the store on new release Tuesdays up the days he began purchasing CDs in mass quantities himself. As a student of music, Jay Wiggs is adapts well to his surroundings. He coins the phrase of “No matter where you are from is neither here nor there because either way it all comes out the same, HOT!†His goal is to create a platform for North Carolina artist to perform his or her own craft. He stated that, “Putting money in my pocket is not going to make me love hip-hop more, it’s when you change a life, reach the masses, and help someone understand why I do what I do, and we (meaning hip-hop artist) are not only what they see on videos. That’s more important to me.†UNDERRATEED. My life has been filled with build up and let downs, but I never stop. I found a way to make it. Through my journey I have gotten stronger, finding my escape through music whether it's hip-hop, R&B, Underground, or even my own lyrics, I feel unstoppable.
