Apostle Leo s. Lewis received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in April 1974 at New Hope Pentecostal Church in Hartford Connecticut. He met Sharon D. Shaw at this same church and they married on November 23, 1974. The late Bishop Marion E. Shaw, soon noticed the gift and calling that God had placed on this great man. It was under his auspices that Apostle Lewis began his journey in the work of the the Lord as an evangelist. In 1978 a call was made by Bishop Francis Smith and Elder Wesley Weeks to start a church in Montgomery under the Authority of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A. of W). Through the unction of the Holy Ghost, Apostle Lewis accepted this call and when the approval came from his pastor, Apostle Lewis and his wife heavy with child number two, headed for the deep south. The first official meeting was held in March 1978 at Maxwell Air Force Base. During the church’s migration it rested in the home of Bro. & Sis. Smith, the Cleveland Avenue Y.M.C.A. and finally a small storefront at 506 N. Decatur Street. With only six members Apostle Lewis was now Pastor of Greater Macedonia Apostolic Temple. In June of 1978 the young people’s department of the P.A. of W. held a mass crusade in Montgomery to compel men to come into the kingdom of God. Many souls were added to the church during this time. The church recognized rapid growth and needed a larger place to worship. Apostle Lewis challenged the saints to begin making pledges to acquire a house for God. In 1980 enough money had been raised to purchase a church at 1921 Mt. Meigs Road. Indeed God has worked a miracle and the name of the church was changed to Greater Macedonia Miracle Temple and many miracles were wrought through this ministry. Apostle Lewis envisioned an in house television production studio which produced broadcasts that were aired on television and radio during the Miracle Power Hour. He envisioned our children attending school in a safe environment with Christian Instructors and God blessed with those things that he envisioned. The saints were excited about the things that God was doing and following the teaching and faith of their pastor were able to acquire 21 acres of land at 3070 Selma Highway and to erect the Christian Academy. In 1992 the church moved from Mt. Meigs Road and into the school’s gymnasium. The name was changed to fit the promotion to “Macedonia Miracle Kingdom & Worship Centerâ€. Planting churches is a call that has been evident in the life of Apostle Lewis. The church has given birth to many children which include churches in Brantley, Selma, Troy, Laverne, and Atlanta, Georgia. In order to better fulfill the work of the Lord and his purpose for this church, we separated from the P.A. of W. in January of 1991. One year later, under the leading of the Holy Ghost, Apostle Lewis started the organization Prophetic Miracle Ministries worldwide (P.M.M.W.) whose purpose includes church planting. Over the years many changes have taken place in this ministry because one man and one woman dared to acknowledge the clarion call of God and go into the highways and hedges compelling men to come that God’s house might be filled. Not only have they given their lives to the work of the Lord, but their four children: First Lady Stacy Austin (Suffragon Bishop G.F. Austin III), Minister Leo Lewis Jr. (Jessica), Minister Sherie Lewis, and Sherrell Lewis all serve in various capacities in ministry. Because of their dedication and commitment our congregation and many others have tasted and seen that the Lord is good.
