The band "Demode", without a name at the time, gathered in Valjevo, during the bombing in april 1999. Bojan Belic (guitar) and Vuk Ceranic (vocal, also played the piano at the time), after a short conversation got the idea to pour those, for us all gloomy days, into verses and harmonies. As the third member of the group joined Dusan Milivojevic (bass guitar) and a smallish cask of homemade brandy (12 litres). With the well-known sound of sirens, first arrangements for some of Belic..s songs were made. Days went by, the cask dried up and the result were four songs, two of wich-"Sanjaj" i "Kao mi", were recorded as a demo versions in a studio in Valjevo in a late summer of 1999.
During the next period up to the summer of 2000., the band comprised of Bojan, Vuk, Dusan and Stepa (a drummer from Herceg Novi) had rehearsuls in Kanarevo Brdo planning to make a solo concert. The first and only concert in that composition was held at Dom Omladine that year in Valjevo. And then the ALBUM!!!
Vuk and Srdjan Vujic, as a producer and an arranger, decided to produce in Srdjan..s "Ser-Lee" studio. Bojan, Vuk and Srdjan, little by little, with no hurry, finished the task.
There were demonstrations and marches and revolutions that year. The band was also baptized that year. Out of the conversation between the Vuk and Bojan, about contemporary and rebellious aspirations of young people during those years, that name naturally imposed itself..."Demode"...
Actually, it..s good to be "d--moder", to read true literature, to watch European films, to listen to music, but truly real music.
During the racording of the "Posle kise" album, Aleksandar Sasa Markovic gave technical support and later on he played an important role in comprising the band to its contemporary composition, with a few changes.
In the summer of 2002., after series of failures to get their album published they started preparations for they performance at Tesnjarske Veceri. Aleksandar Radovanovic (bass guitar), Nemanja Protic (drums), Cedomir Paunovic (keybord) and Sasa Markovic (rhythm guitar), joined the band. And that..s the era of serious playing began.
Until the next summer of 2003, the band performed at various clubs in Valjevo and beyond. With dozen of authorial songs, the repertoire was broadened by adaptations of some foreign performers. Ljubisa Zivanovic (ex "Invazija") joined the band as a drummer that summer and the story continued.
Two videos, for the songs "Karnevali" and "Posle kise" were shot. Sasa Markovic soon left the band and from that day until now members of the band haven..t changed.
"Demode" gained, by frequent concert activities, the reputation of an original and energetic club band that acquired new admirers with every concert that they performed. Bojan Belic characterised the music of "Demode" on one occasion as a neoromantic existential rock, alluding to its emotional, lyrically intoned lyrics and various musical influences of every member of the band. What differentiates "Demode" from every other club band is their approach to every performance as to a concert and not as to a gig or superficial fun. Recognizable energy and hard sound have characterized the band since the very beginning. Lyrics, music and expression are also equally important and they should observed and experienced together in order to comprehend the genuine idea of "Demode..s" message.
The recording of the new studio album and video shooting for the song "Oslobodi me" has started. In August 2007 the band will celebrate its fifth anniversary. The future remains open.
