They're back--and Pattie Brooks, the real diva from Casablanca Records, is in the thick of it, with her new release from Nu & Improved Records, "After Dark 2006." Producer Rick Gianatos and arranger/ programmer David Raschka have reworked her classic hit from the soundtrack of Thank God It's Friday for the 21st Century, combining a pounding four-on-the-floor beat and wild percussion with a smooth at times yet fiery vocal from Pattie. The CD single features mixes by L.E.X, Soulshaker, and Rick Gianatos/David Raschka.But don't think for a minute that Our Ms. Brooks, whose other hit tracks include "This is the House Where Love Died," "Love Don't Make Me Wait," and "Love Shook," is resting on her laurels here! Pattie has been busy, developing a pilot for a music industry oriented interview show for television. Like Cher, Tina Turner, and Bonnie Raitt, Pattie is set to show the world that hot women - like good wine - just keep getting better with time. She intends to present that image on the show, and will be bringing on some of the many music industry talents that she has encountered and worked with during her career, including Donna Summer, Teena Marie, and Paula Abdul, as well as introducing new discoveries who are on the cutting edge.Besides her television project, she is working on material for a new CD. She has recorded a reworking of the novelty hit "The Name Game," complete with the very wildest contemporary names woven into the classic lyric. To complement the powerful energy of "After Dark 2006" and "The Name Game," the full length collection will include "Sweet Temptation," a self-penned sexy and steamy number perfect for that "morning music" set. This down-tempo R&B number builds on a funky base line, with house-style piano riffs, a suggestive sax solo, and retro wah-wah guitar supporting Pattie's seductive vocals.These tracks shows off only a few of the many sounds to be heard from the ever unpredictable Pattie. One minute she is hard at work doing vocals for national commercials, the next minute writing for a soundtrack project, as she has with such gems as "Hang Up the Phone" from Sixteen Candles or the soundtrack to Dr. Detroit. When she's not in the studio, this daughter of an Army Captain, no stranger to seeing the country courtesy of the U.S.A., packs up her bags and hits the road, being one of the first acts to take advantage of invading the dance clubs and doing track dates so that everyone has an opportunity to see a taste of her high energy show.In between dates on the road to support her new release, Pattie will complete her new CD, Back to My Future, which will include a relentlessly energetic "Night" medley of classics (in the tradition of the great albums of Gloria Gaynor and Donna Summer) culminating with "After Dark 2006," and continue with new directions in original material and selected covers, with a number of the originals written by the talented songstress.Pattie has such a zest for living, and she is always on the go.
