About Me

Just like those David set over the service of song in the tabernacle, biding their time until they were appointed to their office. Minister Joyce McNichols has also been working diligently in the Lord’s service, until she received her true calling from the Lord, that of a Psalmist. “And they ministered before that dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and then they waited on their office according to their order.” I Chronicles 6:32 Born the first of six children in a small town in Alabama, Joyce McNichols remembers growing up in an environment filled with Gospel music. “We moved to Los Angeles, California when I was eight years old,” says Joyce. “My parents just loved gospel music. I would wake up in the morning hearing Gospel music and go to bed at night hearing Gospel music”. Joyce McNichols adds, “My dad was quartet singer. When I was a little girl, I remember people like Sam Cooke, The Five Blind Boys, The Jackson Southernaires and Bobby “Blue” Blind, stopping by our house to visit my dad whenever they were in town singing at some churches in our the area.” Noticing the talent within his own family, Joyce’s father formed a family group called The Dozier Singers. “The group initially consisted of my father and four brothers, says Joyce,” Later on, I, along with my sister, mother, a couple of cousins and sister-in-laws joined the group, thus becoming, Rev. Raymond Dozier and The Dozier Singers. The group recorded three albums one which was on New Dawn Records distributed by A&M Records.”Joyce McNichols later joined a contemporary five man gospel group that her brother Paul was also a member of called The Brothers In Christ; recording two critically acclaimed albums with the group under New Dawn Records, an imprint owned by her husband Dr. Marlin McNichols nationally distributed by A&M Records. Joyce McNichols performed recording studio work as a background vocalist in and around Los Angeles working along side “The Waters”, who is the most successful background vocalist recording group in the history of R&B and Pop Music, their voices are heard on more hit records than any background singers in the history of R&B and pop music. From that union and experience she began to develop her vocal arranging and lead vocal skills. It wasn’t until Joyce McNichols moved from California to Michigan that her gifted blossomed. Her anointed skills as a palmist, writer, lead vocalist, arranger and studio producer came full circle. She has produced and written songs for Evander Holyfields gospel label artists Regina Boyd, Urban Hip Hop artists Alex, gospel artist Sandra Hudson, formally of the Whitfield Company, and jazz vocalist Val Benson. Joyce penned four songs and co-produced the much talk about live compilation album “Worship Experience”, featuring some of the leading Praise and Worship leaders in Christian and gospel music, Martha Munizzi Stellar Awards 2004 New Female Gospel Vocalist of the year, Regina Boyd, David and Nicole Binion, Javen Campbell, Keith Dobbins, and Karl Reid of Commissioned. Joyce McNichols also composed and co-produce several songs for a compilation praise and worship album to be released Motown Records with her successful producer husband Dr. Marlin McNichols and Michael Allen. The music production sounds mainstream supported by Urban Praise and Worship lyrics capturing the heart of the urban church. The songs on the album will minister to the spirit of the body of Christ, delivering and breaking down barriers of strong holes in people’s lives, healing to their bodies, and bringing the Joy of Worship in time of need. Joyce also has been retained by major and independent records labels for her creative direction skills. She has worked as Verity Recording artist Fred Hammond creative consultant and stylist, Holy Music Records Artists Regina Boyd creative album cover director and stylist, video and creative director on two very successful projects on Real Deal Records artist “Lexi’, and set designer for the highly acclaimed live recording and video project “Commissioned Reunion” which was nominated for two Grammy’s, a Stellar Award, Soul Train Award, and a Dove Music Award.Currently, Joyce is putting the finishing touches on her soon to be released book titled “Mis Education of Hip In The Church Holy or Profane.
