Okefenokee Joe

About Me

Best known as SONGWRITER of TROUBLE'S BACK IN TOWN No. 1 COUNTRY SONG of the Year by both BILLBOARD & CASHBOX & for his EMMY AWARD WINNING PBS DOCUMENTARY, SWAMPWISE. OKEFENOKEE JOE, aka DICK FLOOD, is the exceptional entertainer and/or educator for your event that will captivate and excite ALL adults and children, with his enthusiasm about the messages in his songs, stories behind the songs, or in a presentation about our natural world featuring his SNAKES!!! Snakes! Just the thought of our reptilian neighbors is enough to give most people a good case of the creeps. But, as naturalist Okefenokee Joe explains in his entertainingly, educational, and memorable programs, snakes are more interesting than lethal. From the tiny, cobra-wanna-be hognose snake to the well-named coachwhip to the dangerous water moccasin, Okefenokee Joe explores the world of Southeastern United States serpents through demonstrations, stories and even his own songs!! Okefenokee Joe, aka Dick Flood, is a folk/country music singer/songwriter, a professional naturalist and a common sense environmentalist!! He lived in the Okefenokee Swamp for ten years, learning first-hand about the animals and plants in the area!! Okefenokee Joe is a prolific songwriter, singer, musician, entertainer, and is now marking his 35th year as a well respected educator!! His exciting songs and programs are thought provoking with a bit of humor. It is rare to have a program or concert that appeals to ALL ages as Okefenokee Joe's does!! So if you want someone who will draw a LARGE audience, Okefenokee Joe, can do that for your properly promoted event!! Call for bookings soon as his schedule fills rapidly! (School bookings and private events are not posted as they are not open to the public). To schedule Okefenokee Joe for entertaining concerts of Songs & Stories behind the Songs contact Linda C.
