Review Written by Mark Youll
So easy, so simple, just so black and white. There is great beauty hidden in these words, and in this music. In the songs and voice of London singer songwriter Gene Linford. These songs, these stark rock love-letters spell the end of swarming production. These songs lay bare, unsupported with the exception of pale guitars, dry industrial drums and brooding strings.
Gene Linford will be huge. Gene Linford is huge. A huge new talent that echoes the dreamy delivery of Magnet with the many flickering moods of Ed Harcourt ,a jagged Fionn Regan and maybe even the coldness of a stony Chet Baker.
Gene Linford has a voice that’s wide, starring songs called Falling, No More and Don’t Lose Your Love. Songs bent like simple sketches. Songs bent with intoxicating words. Late night tales all dressed in the same twisted beauty. The same delicate drive. Songs so easy, so simple, so black and white.
