The Mt Buller Race Club (the Club) was formed in 1987 for the benefit of young Alpine racers (both ski and snowboard) at Mt Buller. It is a non-profit organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act.
The Club offers a part-time and full-time race training program for skiers and snowboarders of school age that commences at the start of the July school holidays and concludes at the end of Term 3. Part-time athletes train during the two weeks of the July school holidays, and on each weekend during Term 3. Full-time athletes live at Mt Buller during Term 3, train during the July school holidays, and for six days per week during Term 3, and attend school at the Australian Alpine Institute at the La Trobe University campus at Mt Buller. The Club also offers a two-week holiday program for Year 11/12 athletes in the July School holidays.Club athletes have the opportunity of participating in a number of races during the season, including the Buller Cup (open to both skiers and snowboarders), as well as a range of FIS and SSA sanctioned races for skiers and snowboarders. The Club also runs a dryland training program that complements its on-snow program. The program commences in February, and runs until the start of the southern winter training season. If you were not a program member in 2006, you will receive information on the dryland program when the Club acknowledges your application. The Club has its own Clubhouse on Summit Road. The Clubhouse is used by the Club staff during the season, for theory training and video analysis, and for some Club meetings. The Club also has its own Operations Manager, as well as its own Head Alpine Coach.
