...during the hot summer nights of early 2007 our hero grabbed his acoustic
guitar and shook off the dust of six years on the melbourne music scene
to search for a new sound. he began writing songs that could support
and enhance a searing vocal, delivering messages of many themes, most
notably, of love and hate.
drawing on the ghosts of his previous incarnations, the shells of old bands
and years of live shows he cocooned himself in the new music for almost
a year before returning to the melbourne music scene mid-2008.
the new sound is moody, dynamic and sprawling with a unique voice delivering
cathartic and galloping storylines.
while there are no set influences or obvious nods to any particular
musical era or genre, there are definite notable references to artists
such as frank sinatra, buddy holly, smashing pumpkins, the cure and jeff
buckley.
future recordings will add flesh to these bones featuring
vocals sprawled across a backdrop of guitars meshed with strings and keys
to create an atmospheric mood of joy and sorrow.
given time arms at dawn shall evolve into a full band to explore this
new musical territory...
