We're a non profit youth org teaching and performing drumming and spoken word poetry. We also have guest djs, mcs, beatboxers, freestyle footballers and dancers and more who teach & perform with us..... The drum kit is the core focus, with no limits after that..
Bradford Rhythm Riots was set up in 2007 by Sabiha Nino Iqbal and Lid Smith, as non profit youth organisation teaching and performing drumming and spoken word poetry. The aim was to provide young people with a safe, welcoming, open minded environment in which they could gain skills, express themselves and use new resources.
Rhythm riots used the drumkit as the core with no limits beyond that...
Since then, Lid is an off district leader, leaving Sabiha Nino, Jordan, Kyle and a whole host of supporters to hold fort in Bradford. And rhythm riots are trying to take the next step. The name says it all - we're not a rave crew. We're trying to defy everything the Bradford Riots were about. We want a righteous, positive impact on bradford and beyond.
Soon our new set of promo detailing recent developments will be all over your faces.
Just a heads up...
- we will be distributing four drum kits in different locations in the district
- anyone who runs a youth club/community centre/care home etc. who would like a kit and some workshops...feel free to tell us why and where
- any drummers, poets, break dancers, beat boxers etc who want to join, hold workshops, do performances etc....just contact us
- anyone else with ideas or interest...holla!
WE'RE ALL ABOUT SOUL, INTEGRATION AND EXPRESSION
We work with anyone willing to make music and share ideas.
Its like a workshop where no-one is better than any other, with the experience of language and rhythm, the chance to experience new music, provide somewhere for kids to go, people to talk to, show their views, awareness of society, new resources and an aim in life.
The aim of Bradford Rhythm Riots is to provide a culture other than voilence, facism and apathy and create an environment where all we want to see is dedication, stamina, expression and kids having fun.
WE WORK WITH MCS/DRUMMERS/ WRITERS/DJS/BEATBOXERS/ENTHUASIASTS FROM THE HIP HOP (NINO) OR DRUM AND BASS(LID) FIELDS....
FOR WORKSHOPS, STUDIO RECORDING AND ONE OF A KIND GIGS
ANYONE LIKE MINDED SHOULD...

We want to give you kids a chance to play drums, write lyrics and ideas, with the aid of a workshop run by ourselves and other guest artists.
We want to show that there is so much undiscovered talent in this genre, and find people who just love what they do and want to learn more and teach others!
