About Me

THE SUNRAYS!IT was a typical morning in february. I was sitting on a train , destination Rome while I was looking out of the window I saw this tall figure walking towards me. He looked like Cesare. Was him! I said: “What are you doing on this train?” “I’m off to northern Italy” He replied. We exchanged few words on music until the train arrived at roma station . Cesare is a guitar player. Every time I bumped into him around Salerno (that’s where we both live by the way) we always talked about music! Anyway later that evening I caught a train back to Salerno and guess what? I saw Cesare again on the very same train! I showed him a bunch of Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae 45’s I bought in Rome that afternoon and that’s when I discovered that he also loved vintage Jamaican sounds and that’s when the sunrays started to happen! We decide to work on a music project together. So we started To work around march 2007, recording ten new songs also with the help of Peppe “Jo SAX” at saxophones, and Mena Iacobelli at some Vocals ,and once we settled our differences things really took off. We finish our first CD, joined forces, and even participated at a charity concert on the 26th of may here in Salerno. You can hear the various influences in our work; I mean there’s funk , rock, surf, rap, African music. The Sunrays are: Cesare Savastano (Alfie the giant): Voice, guitars, bass, songwriting, recording, Percussions, effects. Rock, exotic and beat are his soul! Marcello Camarda (DJ Kong): Voice , toasting, rapping, percussions , songwriting , flexatones, bottles! Spend most of his teens in Perth (Australia) Favourite music styles : Reggae, latin, soul ,surf; funk,60’ beat and more! Peppe Esposito (JO Sax): Saxophones,Bass, sax arrangements. Theaches music in salerno and plays great!Well , that’s our story so far! We hope you enjoy our music, and remember : “ You can rock and you can roll but don’t loose control , ‘cause love is a must for all!!”and now... Say hi to our new aural outing... psychotropical is the name of the new album...more spicy, more reggae, a blend of 60' psych music and all the jamaica-latin-afro you dream of, with big guests like Anniz revez(from Cuba) on the song "Paradise", Romina Battista on the song "Blue Sunset" and last but not least Mr. Costantino Rubini on the bass (Blue sunset)...party album perfect for party on the beach, till the sun goes down...rude boys rockin'..dancing in the sun!!
