The Business of Flies was a five-piece post-grunge dance-rock band from Charlottesville, Virginia. Zach, Cliff, Sam, and Sean had been playing in various bands together since high school. In college at the University of Virginia, they toured the frat scene with a large repertoire of 80s pop, rock, and hip-hop songs and learned how to make people dance. They decided to apply the things they learned to their own music. However, one key element was missing: electronic noises from a board-like machine. Lindsay, the girl next-door, knew how to make sounds from one of these, and the sounds sounded good. The other four members also realized that it's much more fun to play music with a cute girl in the band and the final amalgamation of the Business of Flies was formed.
Unfortunately, the Business of Flies broke up at the end of summer 2007 after recording a 3 song demo at Monkeyclaus Studio in Nelson County, VA. Cliff and Lindsay have continued with a new band called Birdlips, which you can hear at
