About Me

I am a Warrior and father; trained in eastern (Japanese Budo) and western (Apache, Lakota, American) Warriorship traditions. I am here in Las Vegas to make things better, teach protector skills and help bring people to adulthood through training.Originally from Las Cruces and just moved to Las Vegas in September. I'm the oldest of four, we went boy, girl, boy, girl. I know that from the looks of my profile all I do is fish, but I love the outdoors in general. Living in Las Vegas, I am learning to love the indoors too. So far, the town is great, there's somewhere new to go everyday, or just sit and people watch. I live about half a mile from the Rio and the Palms, so it's never far to get some of the Vegas nightlife.I coached a speech and debate team for five years (we won in '98...sweet). As of late, my hangouts are the Wynn, Borders bookstore (sorry Starbucks...no books there), and Green Valley Ranch. Those spots just have great ambiance and atmosphere. Oh and Sunset Park with my kiddo. I'm still learning about this place.I teach Bujinkan budo taijutsu twice a week at West Flamingo Park. Contact me if you are interested in training, or have questions. Visit http://www.vegasbujinkan.com for information, schedules and pictures. That's it for now, when I think of other stuff I do, I'll write it. Create or get your

My Interests

Oh, I fish when I can. Trout are the most fun for me, but I'll put a line in the water about anywhere, given the chance. I love lakes, but stream fishing is my favorite. I don't like to just sit and wait for a bite, I like to actively go after them. I go back to Colorado every year, it never fails to amaze. I've trained in martial arts since I was eight. It's been a very positive and profound part of who I am. At first I used to be wholly concerned with winning personal conflicts and matches. I'd train hard to be a good fighter, but there was always something more out there I felt. I was fortunate to find an art with a warrior perspective in the Bujinkan. I found that my training there led me to better serve my community and family, going beyond just training to develop myself. At it's heart, I found a most impeccable means to perservere.Living in Las Vegas can be an interesting contradiction for someone who is geared to the outdoors, but there are some amazing escapes here. Red Rocks state park is fun and close by. Mt. Charleston has plenty of places to explore and the hike into Fletcher canyon is a must. Springs Preserve is a great place to pass time learning about the area. Though the Strip is usually avoided by locals I am always drawn to the art that is brought there. While most of it is contrived, some of the architecture and design is elegant and sublime in places. It was someones job to make a certain part of that place beautiful and the creativity brought to that is sometimes clever and genuinely creative and I try to appreciate it. When possible I travel, mostly on my own, but in the company of friends is best. I read. Above all, time spent with my son is the best time of all. He humbles and amazes me and keeps me on my toes. A shirt that reads: Luckiest Man on Earth would not be overstatement.

R.I.P. Papas con Spam

Papas con Spam....you were a good dinner, but in the untrained hands of this Ramen noodle bachelor, you were not long for this world.  I have burned the pappas con spam by cooking the spam first....
