formed in late 1986, Chernobyl Chyldren consisted of a bunch of weird high school kids from Rockford, Illinois. The original line-up featured Bob Belt on guitar, Alex Hamilton on vocals, Erik Byrne on drums and Weasel Walter on bass. Soon after forming the group made their debut at a party before expanding to a five piece with guitarist Jeremy Kunz. An utterly horrible gig was done at Rotation Station roller rink opening for other now-forgotten bands. After that the band rehearsed sporadically before kicking out Hamilton, the other members claiming he was too "sloppy" or something stupid like that. In February 1987, the band recorded a demo minus Kunz, plus singer Brad Hollifield. Chernobyl Chyldren continued on writing a few weirder songs before morphing into the no wave band Javelin Bats in spring 1987 (feat. Kunz, Byrne and Walter).
