Under The Element was founded in late 2004 by former Soulscape bassist Sam Ruppert and drummer Joe Bonavita. The idea was to create a new hardcore sound blending elements of metal, progressive rock, punk and alternative. The addition of guitarist Chris Berg and singer Tony Dziemiela in early 2005 solidified the musical lineup and brought together a variety of musical backgrounds that give Under The Element its own unique voice in a scene that has seen too much of the same thing in recent years. The music incorporates a variety of styles, ranging from the likes of Killswitch Engage to that of AFI and even Radiohead. The beauty of Under The Element is that no two songs are alike, with each member adding his distinctive element to envoke feelings of loss, anger, love and sadness in the listener. Under The Element takes strong pride in its roots, and while attempts are made to create something that is new and distinct, the hardcore metal aspect of the band is never lost. Under The Element is a metal onslaught and a seductive lullaby wrapped in a weave of flowing melodies, pounding riffs and poetic verses.
