About Me

Layout by CoolChaser Background from flickr userThere is something magical about believing in your dreams. A spark that lights your soul on fire and gets your heart pounding. A mirror to the very image you are, not so much on the outside, but every inch of you on the inside.Misty has believed in music since she was old enough to discover that without warning, words and music were running through her veins and filling her life with the want to sing every chance she got. At age three, her dad recorded her singing a variety of children songs along with many church songs. Even though her words were unclear at times, there was no doubting her freedom she allowed herself to have with music. She was part of a singing group at age ten, along with her sister and three cousins called"The Inspirational Pink and Pretty." They sang locally and were asked to perform a benefit helping raise money for families who's loved ones were recently deceased. They were a big hit with family and friends. "I remember practicing for hours and hours down my Grandma and Grandpa Root's basement. When we had things all complete we would call our Grandma Root downstairs and she would record all of our hard work. We would sing and dance our butts off. When we were done, we would race upstairs to watch ourselves on tv. Those were some of the best days of my life!"She tested the waters with her writing at age twelve, and recorded her first completed song at age 19. Teaching herself how to play the guitar and completing lessons with an extraordinary bass teacher, her dad, Misty not only sings, she also loves to put her hands on the instruments and hear her songs come alive. "My dad never cut me any slack while teaching me how to play the bass. If anything, he expected alot from me and believe me I wanted to make him proud so I practiced and practiced. I had a whole new respect for bass players after putting my hands on one! They are alot harder to learn than just an acoustic. Did I mention my dad ROCKS the bass!" Moving to Nashville, TN was her dream come true and just like a good country song Misty packed up what could fit in her car, along with her dog, and left her home town Kalamazoo, Michigan behind. While living in Nashville, she played at various places such as "The Blue Bird Cafe", "Hard Rock Cafe", and many other places for songwriters. These days she is loving her life and living in "The Live Music Capital" the great Austin, TX. Writing an enormous amount of new material and making plans to professionally record. Her dreams are still as alive today as they were as a child. "I love Austin! The music scene is unbelievable and dreams are everywhere you step. I am so inspired and I will accomplish all I want to accomplish here. Austin is an awesome city and I am proud to call it home!"

HateDrama.comI would like to introduce you all to three extraordinary women in my life. These women are heroes to me and to so many who know them. My mother, Joyce, Aunt Sue, and cousin Erica. All three have a form of cancer and have BEATEN THE ODDS!My mother, Joyce has a form of skin cancer called Basal Cell Carcinoma. It is the most common type of skin cancer and on an average, a million people a year will be diagnosed with this form of skin cancer. My mom has had numerous surgeries removing the growths/tumors that arise in the layers of the skin. She continues to get regular check ups and surgeries and I couldn't be more proud of her for staying on top of things and taking care of the skin cancer when it bears its ugly face. Her most recent surgery was July 3, 2008. She had to have two more tumors removed and with that, eight stitches. I would have done anything to have been there for her and take care of her. My heart was there and always will be! I love you mom! You are my inspiration! My Aunt Sue was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Hodgkins Disease. Cancer of the Lymph Nodes. She practically lived at West Michigan Cancer Center for months and months going through hell with Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. She lost her hair, spent many extremely sick days and nights after Chemo, and still never complained about her life. She is all clear of cancer as of right now and I pray that it stays that way! I love you Aunt Sue! You are such a strong woman and an inspiration to me!!My cousin Erica at the mere age of 19 was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Most symptoms are swelling of the Lymph Glands. It started with a tumor in her throat and when they went in to operate, they realized the tumor was triple the size they first anticipated it to be. But she did exactly what her doctor told her to and for 8 months straight she was either getting Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy between West Michigan Cancer Center and the hospital and now she is in remission, cancer free! She always kept her faith that she would get better and she did! She is a beautiful woman with so much heart and soul and she is truly an inspiration to me! I love you girl!
