a great melody, a bass guitar amp rumbling on the ground beneath me, a weird chord, improving with a musician I just met, playing with musicians I've known for years, the sound of passing cars on the highway, the peeling of a church bell, and Vadrum...these things do NOT influence me:
a new BPM record for single strokes, a clinic full of brain dead questions debating heels up or down, traditional or matched grip, and click or no click; "who's the best drummer" contests, and players who play an awful lot of excess notes "for the song", anything else that suggests drumming is a sport
