About Me

YCC was formed in 1997 as the Youth Cultural Association (YCA) to provide young people, among them freelance artists, musicians, and actors, the opportunity to participate in various cultural events (poetry evenings, concerts, alternative theater performances, and exhibitions). Because of the growing demand for cultural activities, the YCA was registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in September 1999. In May 2002, the YCA changed its name to the Youth Cultural Center - Bitola. The YCC organizes many cultural events throughout the year. The largest event that we organize is the International Youth Art Festival - Bitola Open City, a festival that provides young artists from Macedonia, the Balkans, and greater Europe a forum to present their artistic abilities. The goal of the festival is to promote multiculturalism through art and music. The YCC also provides young people with the opportunity to participate in informal educational opportunities, such as workshops, aimed at building communication and leadership skills. We are currently creating a national volunteer service so that young people can get involved in the development of their own communities (and their own world!). This program includes work camps and numerous other opportunities to participate in volunteer actions. To date, the YCC has sent over 100 volunteers to work on actions in Macedonia and across Europe.Last but not least, we are involved in the development of civil society and social activism in Macedonia. The YCC has organized projects to promote the importance of voting, as well as the creation of employment opportunities in Macedonia without political connections. We also participate in the monitoring of elections. In short, there are many ways to get involved here at the YCC!
