I decided it was about time for a new About Me, seeing as the previous one was over a year and a half old.
I can be a hard person to pin down. For some people, that can be frustrating, not quite knowing what to expect from me, but the point is that is just one of the hazards of being my friend. But in the end, I am basically a walking contradiction, and that’s the way I intend to keep it. Not for some dumbshit reason like “to keep people guessing”, but for two reasons that are both critical to my own personal philosophy and beliefs.
To begin with, I am constantly making mistakes, learning from them, and changing my behavior accordingly. If there’s one thing I really beat myself up for, it’s making the same mistake twice.
Also, I don’t believe in innate personality. At all. Not even joking. I don’t think any one person is ever stuck being any one way. Bob isn’t a jerk, Bob is being a jerk, and he can change his behavior and start being kind any time he wants to. And in this way, I am exactly as I choose to be.
There is a reason I ended up with Most Changed since Freshman Year in my yearbook. I went from a shy, softspoken, well-organized student freshman to an involved, very social, confrontational and eclectic senior because that’s what I wanted to be.
My family and my close friends mean everything to me. They are my stability, my support, and my sanity.
If I have a (big) problem with you or something you did to one of my friends, I will tell you. To your face. I don’t care if we’ve been best friends for life. A lot of people wouldn’t expect this of me. But I have in the past year dealt with a disgusting amount of back-talking, rumors, forming alliances and common enemies, and I have no tolerance for any of it. At all.
If I fuck up, I will own up to it. I stopped trying to deny and/or cover up my mistakes a good while ago.
I still don’t know what my major is. And that scares the crap out of me.
I am not looking for a relationship. I just don’t have the time to commit to it. If I were to date someone, he would have to be willing to accept that he is not my priority, and frankly, I don’t want to half-ass a relationship.
I get lost in thought at the drop of a hat. Often times when I’m walking to class, if you see me you might have to call my name three or four times before I realize you’re talking to me.
I can’t do it on my own.
I’m very affectionate. And very touchy. I have no personal space bubble whatsoever. Not an exaggeration.
I have a mild coffee addiction that I try and kick every other week.
I really do want to make a difference.
