Atomic Youth was first formed in July 2005. Atomic Youth is from South Orange County, California. Atomic Youth has been performed by great teens, ages of 16-18. How Atomic Youth was started was from a group of friends in middle school of the 8th grade. They decided to jam and make some tunes. They ended up making songs while they went along practicing. These teens who started Atomic Youth were Tyler (vocals), Taos(guitar), Mick(Bass), Dustin(drums). Atomic Youth started off playing at a talent show then went off still playing. After 2 months in there hand they went ahead and got a new bassist. In beginning of September Thadd came along and helped with Atomic Youth. They started to get a few shows in just to feel what is was like to actually play a show. Atomic Youth’s first show was at Hogue Barmichaels with Media Blitz and SRT. Then they went ahead and set up a show at The Whiskey A Go Go with a bunch of great local bands. Atomic Youth started to do well and picked up so many good things to learn and teach their self. In November Taos and Dustin had dropped out of the band. Atomic Youth was then left with Tyler and Thadd. With these two kids they still wanted to play and actually go somewhere with this band. So they found a drummer two or three months later. Atomic Youth got Josh to fill in and play drums. Now Atomic Youth as only left to find a guitarist. Josh told us about his one friend Alex and how he was a great guitarist. So Thadd then called up Alex and told him to come out and practice with them one day. They all met up and practiced and went through all there songs. Atomic Youth was finally found again. Atomic Youth then was Tyler(vocals), Thadd(bass), Alex(guitar), Josh(drums). These kids were doing very well, and finally got back up and started. Now summer of 2006 Atomic Youth got back up and started to perform more shows. Atomic Youth was surprised with these shows that they were doing. They saw that more and more people were starting to actually come out to their shows. Atomic Youth started to get known very well and quickly. Then in August of 2006 Tyler had disappeared, no one knew where he had gone. A day of there show, Thadd and Josh tried getting a hold of him. They got in contact with his father and he said he was shipped away for rehab. Tyler then was gone and now we were left as a three piece once again. So Atomic Youth had to do something quick. Atomic Youth decided to play as a three piece for that night. Josh, Thadd, and Alex hurried to Josh’s to get all the lyrics and to get them all down and memorized. That night Atomic Youth played at The Doll Hut with bands Terezodu and The Bonzos. Atomic Youth had many struggles that night without a singer. So with Atomic Youth without a singer they were in desperate needs for one. Atomic Youth had stepped aside and started to look. Josh mentioned his bassist of the other band he was in. So Atomic Youth called up his buddy Jonny, and asked for him to sing for Atomic Youth. Jonny was down to singing for us. Atomic Youth got together one day with Jonny and showed him all the lyrics and gave him a cd. Now it’s beginning of September 2006. Atomic Youth now has a new vocalist. Jonny was able to pull through and learn very quickly. Atomic Youth now has the members such as, Jonny(vocals), Thadd(bass), Alex(guitar), Josh(drums). These great teenage kids made Atomic Youth way much better and more mature. Now our first show ever with Jonny was in September 30, 2006 with Angry Samoans. That night ended up being very fun and the best night ever. Jonny did very well and we got great feedback from that night from everyone. Now months has past and Atomic Youth is still standing strong and still playing shows. Atomic Youth has the real official members now of great 16 and 18 year olds. They are all proud of what they are doing and planning on keeping Atomic Youth alive. Now, every time they end their set with,"joe smith", they dedicate it to their good friend, with whom made this band possible, Tyler Hertzske. They also performed at great clubs/bars/venues such as Hogue Barmichaels(Newport Beach), Club Roc(Costa Mesa), Whiskey A Go Go(Hollywood), The Alley(Fullerton), and many more. Atomic Youth has played and shared the stage with Angry Samoans, Broken Bottles, D.I., FEAR, Franki Doll, The Dickies, Narcoleptic Youth, One Big Lie, Smut Peddlers, Poop, Noise Attack, Drencroms, Tippers Gore and many more great bands.
