History of Syd
Syd cartoons first began appearing in 1990. Before long Syd had found a permenant home in the pages of the Manitoba Cooperator, the farmer's newspaper. Since then, Syd has travelled and has been spotted in the pages of a variety of publications and plastered on refridgerator doors across Canada.
Syd was originally born a large white laboratory rat. Over time, Syd the rat gave up the limelight fading into the background. Today, Syd the rat still makes the occassional cameo appearance especially in cartoons with a science focuus. For the most part, he lives in the shadows of semi-retirement leaving much of the frontline work to the multitude of other characters that daily adopt the mantle of Syd.
The Artist
George began his writing career in the early 1980's as an editorial columnist writing on the environment and rural lifestyles. His articles and features have appeared in newspapers and magazines. His credits include radio documentaries for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. George first began drawing cartoons as a way to amuse himself during editorial meetings.
A freelance writer and cartoonist, George R. Kynman spent much of the past five decades along the shores of the Red River, near the catfish capital of Canada, Selkirk, Manitoba. A traveller, George's past excursions have included such exotic locations as Australia, Scotland, Tasmania, and Penetanguishing. Today, George can often be found on the roads of Canada behind the wheel of his 1932 Chrysler sedan.
