Hi everyone! Thank you for visitng my page. My name is Gabriella, but you can call me Pooh Bear like my Momma and Daddy do. My Momma made this page for me so that you can see what my "spots" look like. I have a skin disorder called Mastocytosis and the form I have is called Urticaria Pigmentosa or UP. There is info on it in my blog and you can read more about it by visiting www.mastokids.org There is not too much known about Masto and my Momma hopes to change that along with all the other people who have kids like me with Masto. If you can help me by telling all of your friends on My Space and in "real life" about me and my Masto, my family and I would be so thankful! I would love it if you would add me to your top friends so that I get seen more and we raise more awareness! My Momma says that I am a smart, sweet girl full of spunk and life. I love to "read" books and I love to dance. I am VERY mischevious and I get into anything and everything you tell me not to! I make my Momma tired and since I have a twin sissy named Bella, she gets DOUBLE TROUBLE! I love to be "shy' around people I don't know but warm up quickly...I am very curious and love to learn new things. Since I was very very small, my Daddy started calling me Pooh Bear and it 'stuck' as my nickname...my Momma and Daddy said I looked like a "pooh bear" with my fat cheeks and my round little belly. The nickname "Ladybug" came after I was diagnosed with Masto and I started getting my spots. I hope you have enjoyed reading a little bit about me. My Momma runs this page but she reads me all of your messages and I sit in her lap EVERYDAY and look at all your comments. I smile at the screen when I see them and it makes me happy to have so much support and love from people I know and don't know. We say prayers every night for everyone and their families...so thank you from my little heart!XOXO ~Gabriella AKA "Pooh Bear"
Myspace LayoutsMastocytosis is a rare disease whose cause remains unknown. What we do know is that the disease is the result of an overabundance of mast cells that are found normally within every human being's body tissues. Mast cells contain chemicals that are released into our systems to perform their various duties. In mastocytosis, the excessive number of mast cells release more of these chemicals than the body requires. The symptoms of mastocytosis are caused by the excessive amounts of chemicals interacting with body tissue.Pediatric mastocytosis can take several forms, varying from mild forms to more severe forms of the disease. Any form of the disease presents challenges to raising children, and educating others on how mastocytosis affects their lives.RESEARCHING MASTOCYTOSIS REQUIRES RAISING FUNDS, BUT TO SUPPORT FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES, WE MUST FIRST RAISE THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF THIS DISEASE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A BIG TASK; HOWEVER, EVERYONE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO RAISING AWARENESS - AT LEASE ON SOME LEVEL. THANKS TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS!IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION TO HELP FINDING A CURE / HELP SUPPORT, YOU CAN CONTACT ME AND I WILL SEND YOU THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO DO SO.
