CeriOus’s blend of Hip Hop, Gospel, and Soulful music marks a huge possibility of us seeing the next dominate duo to hit the stage. Once strictly Christian, CeriOus has taken Hip Hop into a direction that it’s never been before. With their new and rising hit “Battle Cry” CeriOus has began to reach out to all listeners both believers and non believers of God. CeriOus has versatility that has yet to be seen in the music industry in a long time. Loud club like hits as ones written by Lil John and the Eastside boys, to Soulful tunes as ones written by Kirk Franklin make up of what the world can expect to hear out of CeriOus. Clay Armstrong (Cassius) and Domonice’ Thompson (Onesti) grew up together as close friends. With both Fathers acting as brothers it only seemed right to call themselves cousins to give them the family like bond that they felt. Both wrote poetry growing up but it was Onesti who showed interest in music when he joined a Christian Hip Hop group that was formed at his High School in Pataskala, Oh. Cassius later joined the group that consisted of 6 M.C.’s and a D.J. The group called themselves “Standoutz”. The group later went their separate ways; all but Cassius and Onesti. The two were given their name by Onesti’s mother. CeriOus (pronounced serious) stands for Cassius, Eternity, Respect, Integrity, Onesti, Understanding, and Salvation. CeriOus kicked off their debut with a performance in Jamaica. Since then they have gone from working with local indie labels, to building their own label which is now known as Soul Mind Productions. Cassius and Onesti is artist with the label; CeriOus is a group with the label and Domonice Thompson and Clay Armstrong is CEO and Co-CEO of the label. Their biggest break came when the home town arena football team showed interest in their hit “Battle Cry”.
