Established in 2007, Neverwork is the new label set up by pioneering DJ / producer / remixer Justin Robertson.
Justin’s initial forays into music saw him DJ in early 90’s Manchester where his hugely influential clubs, Spice and Most Excellent, became the cornerstones of the burgeoning dance movement – so much so that The Chemical Brothers cite him as their mentor. His mix of techno and electronic house has been rocking clubs and venues all over the world since, including Bugged Out!, Chibuku Shake Shake in Liverpool, The Loft in Barcelona, Pacha in Buenos Airies, and Together at Turnmills in London (where he currently DJs monthly). Justin has also been known to indulge his more eclectic tastes with the occasional reggae, Northern Soul and pop infused set.
As a producer under various guises Justin has had critical acclaim and chart success. Lionrock scored several top 40 hits (and a Top of the Pops appearance) in the mid to late 90s. In 2001 he stepped out under his own name to record his most commended work to date with his Justin Robertson presents Revtone project (with Mark Ralph and released through Bugged Out!), bringing primitive house and new wave disco into the digital age. Justin’s remix credits include Fatboy Slim, Midlake, Felix Da Housecat, Stone Roses, Bjork, Charlatans, Radio 4 and Chicken Lips.
Neverwork will be the platform for Justin’s numerous and varied musical projects. Over the coming months the label will see new releases from Justin Robertson, Revtone, and Thee Earls – Justin and Gez Dewar’s brand new, Joy Division and Talking Heads inspired art-pop band.
