Javier R. better known to Spanish music fans as DJRowy (or Row), was born in 1984. Rowy's first contact with the world of music was not headphones and turntables but the guitar, which he began learning at the tender age of 9. However, Javier/Rowy would soon leave the world of pop music behind and start to develop an interest in dance and electronic tunes.
Rowy began to devote an increasing amount of time and energy to music in his teens, buying himself a large amount of vinyl’s. At the age of 14, the young artist would start selling mixed CDs to all of his classmates, and evaluating their critics or approvals. While advancing at home and perfecting his technique, Rowy continued his work on the international dance scene. Indeed, he organized his own evenings in local clubs or houses, getting the dance floor grooving to a mix of his hard-trance and uplifting-trance imports.
In May 2004, Row turned his attention to his own career seriously once again. He started mixing in a recognized Barcelona’s club, Future Art & Music where he was sponsored by the veteran trance DJ of Spain, Pllo Future.
Towards the end of 2004, he won a DJ contest put on by Addictrance, a well-known website which encourage himself.
In 2005, the contest lead to opening with his mixes at Illusion Club, in Madrid, collaborating also with Precision and Menno De Jong from Holland. And Shammu, Pllo Future and D-Mark from Spain. A few months later, he took part in two famous radio programs: First of all, as a result of winning the contest, Frequencies, directed by the Italian Giorgio Ponticelli and broadcasted by Digitally Imported. Secondly, in World Trance Sets produced and directed by Arcan DJ.
Within his first year of playing out, Row was invited to play at Claroscuro Sunday’s Sessions in Telón de Akiles, also with D-Mark, David Amante and Toni Arco.
In 2007 with the slogan, “4 friends, 1 dream”, he started an online radio program called Dream’n Barcelona (together with his friends Titu, Nil_lo and BOa), specially focused to bring their vision of progressive-trance right from Barcelona. The program is broadcasted monthly on Pure.FM, every first Wednesday.
Soon after, Row joined to work with BOa (collaborating with the resident Acues) some weekends in a new concept of modern restaurant and club called Aire in Palau Falguera (Sant Feliu de Llobregat).
During the summer holidays, Row & BOa were working daily as DJs in a Barcelona’s refreshment stall (El Chiringuito Group) in Platja de la Nova Marbella beach, playing a particular sound of soft-trance and Balearic tunes.
Then, in November, they create a new brand called Sunlight Sessions, made up of 8 DJ’s and producers: BOa, Titu, Nil_lo, Aïda, DJGeri, DJGongor, Evna (designer) and Row, trying to expand progressive and trance along our country. They start making successful trance parties every 2 months at Little Jungle disco in Mataró.
In December, he came back to Madrid and have the opportunity to mix at Harmony Sessions (from Bayona Music group), in DM Club (Plaza de Toros de Leganés), together with DJLuismi (the most devoted trance DJ in Spain), Chenkio and DJChussy. In Christmas, Row participates in a 2 day’s DJs marathon in Addictrance Online Radio.
At the beginning of 2008, he joined to trancespain webpage as a collaborator, contributing writing trance music articles and party’s reviews, just to let the readers know how the trance scene is.
Nowadays, he continues making the best. More music! Always more trance and progressive music :)
