Band Members: Simon Scott, Steven Scott and David Strangio are The NOS Simon Scott, 31 Founding member of the NOS and instigator of the master plan. Guitar/Rock/Funk background, but once he got a taste of psytrance he’s never looked down. He is responsible for the dark, tooth grinding, rhythmic creations, that are the NOS. Steven Scott, 26 Playing bass in an original rock band since the age of 15, but twisted by trance at 17, steve definitely puts his mark on anything he touches (tweaks). He has an advanced diploma in music and is the master theorist of the NOS. Whether it’s arse wobbling basslines or mind bending melodies, its sorted!! David Strangio, 26 In 2003 he opened his house(studio) to the onslaught of 2 solid years of speaker popping mayhem. Originating from a heavy metal/progressive rock background. A sound engineer by trade, he always has one ear on the mix and one to the ground. Ear ripping percussive grooves and fully effected sound scapes are the cornerstone of his repertoire. "The Master Plan" Trance became a major part of the three boys lives, as anyone who has experienced the magic that happens on the dancefloor at a bush doof would know. In 1998 the boys started to go to all the party’s in the Melbourne area, Rainbow Serpent and Earthcore, and some smaller one’s. It was around the millennium that they had noticed that the party’s had become morning orientated, this is when they decided that they would write an album to bring the parties back to the night. In 2003 the boys started creating beats and riffs and slowly established there own spin on things, learning the tricks of the trade as they went along (and still learning them) on their way to there own sound. "Breaking the Ego", the name of their first album took till 2005 to finish writing and has undergone many mixes since then. All tracks were originally created using ProTools with 3 soft synths, Pro-53, Trilogy, SampleTank and a Micro Korg. "The New Old Sound" wasn’t the name of the project from the start, they went through many names until they firmly believed that "The New Old Sound" was the perfect name for their new spin on the old sound. The NOS are currently building up their arsenal, and making sure they have the right set-up for the live show. It will be based around Abelton Live and an Akai 2500 for now, but intend to make it a bigger show once they have the gear! It wont be long peoples, till u can dance like no one is watching!!!
