Shay & Michi

Shay and Michi Guess began singing together at fifteen years old. They met in high school while Shay was traveling with his grandfather and Michi, with her family. Both found friendship by sharing the stories of being on the road during weekend trips. When the band Michi sang with lost their drummer, the replacement was found in a friend from school, Shay.Shay and Michi sang throughout their high school years and college; traveling from Florida to the Northern most parts of Ohio, and many places in between east of the Mississippi. Shay and Michi were married in 1994, while attending college and traveling, singing Southern Gospel music. Many accolades followed them on their journey, but the missing links and God’s plan interrupted dreams of merely being Christian entertainment.Watson’s Chapel Church of God in Desoto, Mississippi became a pivotal moment in their ministry. They were both seeking God, and were filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Things quickly changed for the two when this event took place. They began seeking God on a new level and ministry was taking shape.1998 became another chapter unfolding in their lives, when the life of singing Southern Gospel music came to close, and a new chapter opened. They began attending Good News Church in Tupelo, Ms and learned a new style of music.Praise and Worship became a large part of their lives and they dove right into the plan and vision of the worship leaders at Good News at the time. Shay began running sound, and for the next three years would began to observe what the next phase of his life would be.Today, Shay and Michi lead worship for New Life Church, Tupelo, MS. They also travel with Pastor, Anthony Hatch of New Life and visionary of REVIVED. You can also find them in the heart of the local youth ministry, traveling with Tishomingo based youth band, filledXstream (www.myspace.com/filledxstream). They own their own recording studio and work with local bands such as; Southern Image Qt (www.myspace.com/southernimageqt), Acts of Faith (Willie and Loretta Guise), Alvis Hatch, and the Grace Based Band (www.myspace.com/alvishatch).The couple has a vision to see Pastors and Music Ministers / Worship Leaders flow together in worship without hindrance. The compassion they have to see church members seeking God as a corporate body and explore new avenues of worship consumes their ministry. In fact, they have been so busy helping everyone else, that after 17 years they have finally been moved to record their very own CD. In addition, Shay is in the process of writing a book specifically targeted for worship leaders and pastors called, “Creating the Atmosphere.”a
