VOTE FOR SPENCER THOMAS ON THE DJ LIST!
(DJ)Spencer Thomas provides a unique musical sound every time he is behind the decks. His sound has been perfected by curiosity, knowledge, talent, and desire. Spencer’s undeniable passion for dance music and the lifestyle of its’ enthusiasts were fostered at an early age, making him a phenom in his music making ability.
“When I was nine my brother constantly brought new dance/house music home, and even then, I thought it was bad-ass.†Little did Spencer’s older brother Kiev know at the time, but the hard house records he was constantly bringing home were being used as the building blocks for what would become DJ Spencer Thomas. The records laid the foundation, the exposure to the club scene constructed the frame, and playing for an audience put the roof on the musical career Spencer was building.
“When I was 12, Kiev took me to my first club. Twelve years old and he got me on the decks during the peak hour slot for 500 people. The promoters loved me from then on, like if the older DJs were messin’ up and they wanted the crowd to actually move, they called my bro’ to bring me down, and they didn’t even know my name, I was twelve!â€
Naturally, DJ Spencer Thomas knew it would take much more than a few club gigs to expose his music to the masses. From the ages of 13-17, Spencer would stand in the streets, in the parking lots, even at the doors of the clubs in Scottsdale, AZ and hand out his demos to as many people as would take them. It was this self promotion that, when combined with his talent, got him noticed by local club promoters. DJ Spencer Thomas never played the “in-your-face†game with the promoters. Anything people knew about him came solely from his demos and street promotion.
At the age of 15 years old, DJ Spencer Thomas was given control of a DJ crew and a production company. He had his first residency at a club in Tempe, AZ. They didn’t even know how old he was, but they knew his music got the crowds jumpin’ every time he took his place behind the decks, and Spencer always left the crowds beggin’ for more when his set was over. Two years later, not just club-goers, but the entire world would get the chance to hear his music. After a meeting with Program Director Rod Carrillo, Spencer was given a mix-show slot on Energy 92.7/101.1 KNRJ-FM. By the time DJ Spencer Thomas was 17, he had his music on the air, and opportunities continue knocking.
Spencer’s mixes were eventually heard by representatives from Eventvibe.com, an on-line promotion company devoted to the promoting the dance music culture, i.e. special events, shows, artists, etc., in cities such as L.A., San Francisco, Phoenix, and New York. Eventvibe.com loved what they heard from Spencer and immediately began integrating him into Scottsdale’s burgeoning dance scene. It began with a 3-month stint at one of the most established dance clubs, Radius.
This run of knockout performances led to Spencer being named Eventvibes.com’s official resident DJ for the Phoenix, AZ region. Furthermore, and currently, DJ Spencer Thomas has earned himself the spot of resident opening DJ for the weekly big-name headliners at Myst Nightclub, one of the top spots for the hottest acts in the world. Next up, Spencer will take his place at E4 Nightclub as the resident DJ on Saturday nights. All this and DJ Spencer Thomas recently turned just 20 years old. Not even the sky can limit the potential of DJ Spencer Thomas. Remember the name.
