CREATIVITY, working in my studio, the human form, things that are different, live music, listening to music I've never heard before, playing hockey with a bunch of other 30-50 somethings feeling like we're 10 year olds. cold, frosty beverages (preferably adult), going to oakland a's games, travelling...
...anybody that makes me think...
This is a tough one...I'll just throw the last 10-20 records I've listened to out there cause it always is changing. Clash, Minor Threat, Fela Kuti, the Coup, Run DMC, NoMeansNo, Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, the Spits, Ethiopiques, Antibalas, Gotan Project, ils, Sarah Vaughn, John Coltrane, Dr. Octagon, Devo, Buzzcocks, anything Studio One or Soul Jazz Records has ever released...
Blade Runner, Brazil, Citizen Kane, Fargo, Blue Velvet, Sin City, Jaws, Alien, Young Frankenstein, Amelie, Repo Man, Kung Fu Hustle...I probably watch more documentaries than anything. Some good ones I've seen recently are How to Draw a Bunny, Rock School, Enron:The Smartest Guys In the Room, America:Freedom to Facism, Sketches of Frank Gehry, Scratch, Born Into Brothels, and one every high-school kid should see AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH (actually EVERYBODY should see that one).
If I had cable...Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Six Feet Under, Carnival. Otherwise, I've kinda been hooked into Heroes on regular TV (the screen is about 10 inches accross so forget about subtitles)
I always seem to feel like I should be drawing when I'm reading so I probably don't read actual books as much as I should. I do however read Art Form, Art In America, and Bomb cover to cover when I receive them. The last thing I've finished bookwise is Keith Olberman's 'The Worst Person In the World' and I just picked up 'Brainless:The Lies and Lunacy of Ann Coulter'.
