Tence

About Me

Tence released the 6 track mini album ' Smiling on the Outside'. in 1998. Which was recorded at Sound Advice, a 24 track studio in London The album was engineered & produced by Darren Lynch (Anna, Disco De Oro) with the help from inhouse engineer Mike Moore. The album was released by Limesub Music in March 99 and distributed by Shellshock. 'Smiling on The Outside' received good reviews in the rock and underground press . After the recording of the album, Tence set about gigging, receiving many outstanding reviews. Then Tence start to receive attention from many labels, and set about demoing more new songs they had written in their own studio. This surfaced as a top quality live studio demo entitled the Lynch sessions, as it was once again recorded and mixed by the wonderful Darren Lynch However at the beginning of 2001 things turned sour with the bands useless management, which end up with Tence missing out on several good deals. The management company dissolved, and with so much hard work gone to waste, the band decided to take a long break, having become worn out from the bullsht. Dave Scutt went to India and found himself, Martyn and David lost themselves in London. 2 years later the band started to jam, but had no intention of doing the music biz thing again, just the pleasure of writing 22 minute songs as good friends, with the help of Mr Bong............ However after a couple of more years Tence started to take it all seriously again and set about writing ( shorter songs) and recording. Not wanting to keep the name Tence ( as they were starting afresh, lots more musical influences had crept in to their music ) the band then changed their name to ~ Sea On Fire ~ Their 1st gig under this name was in June 2007, which was an entirely new set, and went down a storm.
