Jimmy Cempron
Singer • Guitarplayer • Songwriter • Composer
- born and raised in Cebu/Philippines
started to play Bandoria (a National Folk musical instrument with 12 strings), then the Contra Bass and later Guitar.
decided to go to Manila, at 18, to pursue more serious Musicians Life!
- travelling to Japan helped him to sharpen his chops & gave a better understanding to ap-proach music in general
- 1987, he started to work as a Session Guitar player/ Singer in Manila's Recording Studios circle
(He was "the" most called session player at that time. Most of the tracks he layed were first takes, whether it's a solo or rhythm guitar track.)
2 years later, he won the WEA / DYNA Records sponsored "Night of the Guitars" guitar solo contest that was Televised
nationwide thru GMA Channel 7
- 1990, he was offered to play in Austria, Europe, together with his family.
After playing long years with a lot of musicians, he decided to give time for himself and concentrate to write songs and try to search his own sound!
At present, still in Austria, Jimmy formed his own band "JayCee and the GrooveManics*", a hard hitting funk, soul, latin, jazz-fusion and rock & soul band. Just let the band speak for itself as the new Journey for Jimmy's Musical life begins! His oldest daughter J. Sheila is Singer in their Duo "Jay Cees".
To hand on his love to music he's for a couple of years a music teacher too! (guitar, bassguitar)
