Nature and fortune have vied with one another in heaping upon me all their choicest gifts. I have wealth and I am perfectly independent. I am good looking and posses an irresistible charm of manner. I have a beautiful untrained tenor voice; i can improvise, with a startling brilliance, rapidly and loudly, on the guitar. I can write rhymed verses with extraordinary rapidity. For painting symbolical pictures, I have a dashing style, and if the drawing is sometimes weak, the colour is always pyrotechnical. I excel in amateur theatricals and, when occasion offers, I can cook with genius. I resemble Shakespeare in knowing little Latin and less Greek. For a mind like mine, education seems supererogatory. Training would destroy my natural aptitudes.
