H-Street Skateboards

About Me

H-street skateboards, founded in 1986, was the brain child of the late, great visionary Mike Ternansky and current Osiris proprietor Tony Magnusson. H-Street was named after a street in Chula Vista, California. It was on H-Street that several of the original team riders lived, in the "H-Street House". The original H-Street team consist of Ron Allen, Jeremy Allyn, Dave Andrecht, Mike Carroll, Eddie "El Gato" Elguera, Richard Ezekiel, Art Godoy, Matt Hensley, Carl Hyndman, Ben Job, Darrin Kimura, Jeff Klindt, Tom Knox, Chris Livingston, Brian Lotti, Tony Magnusson, Ryan Monihan, David Nielsen, Steve Ortega, Jeff Pettite, Jason Richardson, Brennand Schoeffel, John Schultes, Ray Simmonds, John Sonner, Dave Sornson, Aaron Vincent and Danny Way.
H-Street's first feature length skate video changed skateboarding not only with its content but also its form. Shackle Me Not is shot entirely with video cameras when skateboard videos were until then shot with film. Mike Ternasky and Tony Magnusson's "living room" editing approach changed the rules of skate video production and ushered in an era where "anyone" could make a skate video. The skating is a mixture of vert, pool and street from a then unknown or just-coming-up group of skaters, many of who are now legendary, such as Danny Way, Ron Allen and Matt Hensley.
H-Street followed up with an appropriately title second video, Hokus Pokus. Just as ground breaking as Shackle Me Not, it showcased Ron Allen, Sal Barbier, Colby Carter, Dave Donalson, Eddie "El Gato" Elguera, Matt Hensley, Ben Job, Kien "Donger" Lieu, Chris Livingston, Brian Lotti, Tony Magnusson, Ryan Monihan, David Nielsen, Steve Ortega, John Sonner, Dave Sornson and Danny Way. Hokus Pokus also featured Jeremy Allyn, Carabeth Burnside, Greg Carrol, Mike Carroll, Dave Crabb, Bill Danforth, John DeAgo, Gabe Emryst, Kit Erickson, Trent Gaines, Tim Gavin, David Graves, Ocean Howell, Dan Paterka, Jeff Pettite, Alfonzo Rawls, John Reeves, Jason Rogers, Noah Salasnek, Brennand Schoeffel, Sean Sheffey, Ray Simmonds, Josh Swindell, Brian Tucci, Aaron Vincent and Mark Wyndham. Below are a few sections of the video. Not the New H-Street Video was a promo video but is still one of the best videos of all time. See for yourself; Even the filming is amazing. Here is the video in its entirety.Next, H-Street made what they called the "Summer Tour Video". It was intended to be a promo for their new upcoming full length video "Next". The video was never released as a majority of the key riders left, with co-founder Mike Ternansky, to form Plan B. The promo finally was realeased in 1998, when Tony Magnusson released the H-Street Box Set. Much of the footage from this promo ended up in Plan B's "Questionable" video. Here is the "Summer Tour Video" in four parts.
