About Me

WILDLY SELF INDULGENT 3rd PERSON BIO: Pat MacSwyney grew up in suburban Chicago and Los Angeles, listening to his mother’s Dubliners and Bing Crosby records. He has been performing Irish, Balkan, Ottoman, & various interpretations of traditional music for 25 years. Pat has recorded both solo and with the bands; The BAKSHEESH BOYS, STINKEYE, BUZZWORLD and the ethno-thrash band BLACK CLOTHES & POINTY SHOES. Recently, Pat played Kaval opposite vocalist Azam Ali in the dramatic closing scene of the Warner Bros movie "300", which premeired in theatres in March, 2007 with an original score by Tyler Bates. Look for him grossly mispelled on the 300 soundtrack as Pat McSwyny..... nice @*%ing job there Porky Pig!!! ************************************************************ ** Pat has a degree in Anthropology from U.C. Santa Barbara and has subsequently never held gainful employment outside of the music and food service industries. He is also author of several books on traditional music; most recently "KAVAL: Balkan & Anatolian Traditional Music", published in 2006. Pat lives in north Los Angeles county and plays music for dancing & drinking at weddings, wakes, sunnets and the occasional Hollywood blockbluster.
