Kayo’s music, through its fusion of energy, melody and harmonies embraces the diverse mix of cultures and musical genres that she was exposed to from birth.
Born British of African descent, Kayo’s journey into music was nurtured through the life journeys and travels of her parents. Their ability to embrace new cultures, and sounds laid the very foundation for the open-minded path in music that Kayo walks today. Due to their eclectic musical tastes, Kayo cut her teeth on genres ranging from Motown, UK Soul, Reggae, Negro Spirituals, World Music, Classical, Pop and Rock.
After boogying her way through London University, Kayo took her first professional lead role in the musical Hair, staring as ‘Dionne’. This European tour promoted the combination of her talents; acting, singing and live performance. Moreover, it provided the perfect platform for her style of blending voice and emotion through her colorful vocal belts, warm ballad tones and skillful vocal harmonies.
In 2002 Kayo was invited to sing with The Original USA Gospel Choir - a tour that once again took her singing across Europe. This tour was the very key that opened doors for her to sing at the Vatican and give support to Randy Crawford, Dionne Warwick and Brian Adams.
As a song writer Kayo’s musical talents have led her to produce her own work with her 7 piece dance band in Germany. She also has releases on Soul Glows' album, "We Come Along", C&M Productions "Private Mood" and two of Zed Bias’ albums "Make Your Peace" & "Sounds Of The Pirate", all signed and distributed on Universal & XL.
Kayo’s notable skill for voice and arranging harmonies was highlighted in 2005 through her work as Vocal Director for the London Community Gospel Choir featured at the Refugee Voices Concert in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Kayo has now been invited by Kensington & Chelsea College London to create and manage their new music department. Her knowledge of voice and love for personal and professional development have since led her to become Director of her own training and development business Voice Magnetix-- (A unique a communications workshop that helps participants achieve greater confidence, self expression and results).
Kayo is a strong performer who takes the stage with confidence and ease. Her zest for life and music fuel her art as she continues to paint with passion, emotively combining word and melody.
Given her level of continuous fresh energy and sensitivity in style, it is no surprise that as Kayo progresses further into this century, her voice and style precede her, bringing warmth and vitality to all her recordings, clients and live audiences.
