SOLIRIS began her journey as a bi-lingual MC in 1998. Born in Puerto Rico & raised in the projects of Springfield, MA, Soliris took to the streets where she battled competitors and gained respect as an upcoming MC. She was featured on a mixtape called "Massconnect", which further helped her to break boundaries as one of the few female MC contenders in the area. Her swift flows and commanding stage presence brought out audiences that transcended all ages and races. Wherever Soliris grabs the mic, the spotlight turns to her and the energy level hits a new beat.
One of Soliris' first professional experiences was in a music group called .COMM (consisting of herself and 3 other guys). They had the opportunity to be the opening act for several industry giants such as Fife Dog of a Tribe Called Quest, Lil Jon, Jagged Edge, Busta Rhymes, and Ja Rule. In 1998, they opened up for Dead Prez which garnered substantial radio exposure in Massachusetts. Although her travels with .COMM had led to great success, Soliris quickly realized she wanted to take her career to another level and pursue her solo career. The following year, she continued to fine-tune her craft by not only working on her songwriting but also using her creativity to produce her own tracks. This allowed Soliris to become more intimate with her music and become more independent as a solo artist. Looking back and seeing how far she had come, inspired Soliris to start her own movement called, "Womanz World". Soliris is a voice for women, and with her movement she hopes to become a force for change!
2000 came around and Soliris' popularity in Massachusetts had grown beyond its borders. She picked up her bags and took off to the greatest city in the world...New York City. Upon her arrival, Soliris immediately took on the challenge of further developing her artistry while establishing more valuable relationships within the music business. She also gained confidence which became apparent on stage. The buzz that began in Massachusetts would now go overseas to her homeland. In Puerto Rico, Soliris performed for various clubs and high-profile fashion shows. Soon after, she took off to Orlando, FL to perform at a local block party, which led to an invitation to perform at The House of Blues.
When Soliris returned to New York, she touched down in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where she began to make a name for herself that soon spread throughout the boroughs. She performed in various locations from The Hard Rock Cafe to La Esquina in Harlem. Soliris repeatedly raises the bar every time she hits the stage. She proved this by winning a prestigious competition hosted by rapper 50 Cent on MTV's TRL Live. This opportunity gained her respect from industry professionals including Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and 50 Cent himself.
Soliris continues to prove her talent by out performing her competition. She was the winner of the "Music Is My Life" Lesbian Competition back in August 2009. Currently, she is the only female semi-finalist for the Hip Hop Unplugged competition.
Whether she is hosting an open mic show or making an appearance for a local radio station, Soliris brings forth an uncompromising force and a likability factor that makes her star shine brighter than others. She is winning over a new audience everyday and breaking boundaries every step of the way!
