If you're lucky, you're listening to the song "Dale la Mano" by Puerto Rican rapper Funky. It's a beautiful song, but the refrain is the most meaningful for me. It goes, "Y nunca te olvides de donde Dios te ha sacado,
no vaya a ser que más adelante caigas por no haberte cuidado," which translated means, "And never forget where God took you out of. Don't fall later because you didn't take care of yourself." Okay, it sounds better in Spanish, but so does everything else, heh heh heh :-). I've been into a lot and through a lot, and have survived because of God's grace. It's still a struggle, so I always have to remember where I've been so I don't go back there again. I'll add more to this over time--this is just an introduction.
Update 1-24-2008: Funky's song was withdrawn by artist so I had to pick a new one. None of my favorite reggaeton songs are available so I picked Christian rapper Lecrae's "Praying For You." I thought I was putting it up for a friend, but as the song says, I'm really praying about me.
Update 4-7-2008: Got a new song up, "FIYA" (Free In Yahweh's Abundance) by James Fortune. It's a song of hope and freedom through Jesus Christ. I'm done with self-pity. I prayed to God, "Teach me how to love" and He put some wonderful people in my life to do just that: Angel, you led me to Christ and taught me forgiveness. Duane, my accountability partner-in-crime :-) We've been through a lot together in the short time I've known you--you've taught me to get back up after I've fallen down. You've helped me grow and tap into God's healing power. "If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 18:19). Be healed my brother, I love you! Keith, my brother in Christ, and Shawon, my nephew in Christ, you're my role models. You give me something to be proud of :-) To all of you, and to the others I didn't mention (you know who you are), I LOVE YOU!!! I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm well on the way and I thank God you're with me on this journey.
