Plato's Republik

A small woman, shaven-headed and wearing a smart white suit, stepped forward. The band kicked in... and they blew me away.I'm no good at categorising music. I can't tell house from garage from jungle. I've no idea whether soca and soukous are different things or not. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say Plato's Republik's music was a fusion of jazz, funk and salsa, but I'd probably be wrong. I just know what I like.The band -- four guys in the usual line-up of guitars and drums -- hit their groove and stuck with it, light and tight.The band disbanded in 2005 but their music is still much alive.
