My myspace is dedicated to the American Volunteer Group, a group of airmen and personnel secretly dispatched by President Roosevelt in 1941 to aid China before the United States entered the war in the Pacific, months before Pearl Harbor. Outnumbered but nonetheless undaunted, they carved a fiery swath through the Imperialist Japanese war machine, racking up a combat record unparalelled by any fighter group of comparative size. Their heroic efforts kept the Burma Road open for China's military, and was a death knell to the Empire of the Sun's so-called "Greater Asian Co-propserity Sphere." Their aircraft was the heavy but formidable P-40 Warhawk, decorated with their signature "shark mouth" nose art.. and their prowess in air combat delivered. The Chinese dubbed them "Fei Hu"..they would come to be known for the English translation of this name- Flying Tigers. As I am half Chinese, I owe a debt of gratitude to these brave men and women, and feel a swell of pride as an American. Gratitude and pride- an odd mix of emotions, but that's how I have felt about them all my life. To that end, I have taken it upon myself to share with my fellow myspacers a little forgotten history that is very special to me..

You scored as
P-38 LightningThe P-38 Lightning features a unique twin-boom design that houses the twin supercharged Alisson enines, both of which counter rotate each other, eliminating torque problems. With vibration from torque gone, this makes for a very smooth ride, and a perfect platform for aerial photography, taking crystal-clear pictures of the enemy's location. Also notable is that its guns are mounted in the nose pod, so the gunfire doesn't have to converge in a certain point a long way away(like other fighters), the P-38 pilot can just line up the sight, and fire away. This fighter-bomber was such a terror to the Germans, that it was known to them as the "Fork-Tailed Devil."
