Adam Pope is from Winston-Salem, NC. He moved to Nashville, TN in Feburary, 2006, at the age of 21.
Adam grew up in a very musical family. "My earliest memory is daddy leading the church in hymns and momma playing the piano." There was also alot of country, bluegrass, and oldies music playing in Adam's household.
When Adam turned 15, David Pope gave his son a guitar for his birthday. " I didn't ask for one," Adam recalls, " I was scared that I wouldn't get good at it. But, I wanted a guitar so bad! So, when I got it, I went straight to my great-grandpa and told him to teach me. He sat me down, and just started playing his guitar, and told me to put my fingers where he does and follow him. And that was my lesson every week, until I could play."
Adam sang in church regularly and began songwriting at age 18. " I knew all along that I wanted to perform for a living one day, so that's all I thought about." He had seen divorce and hard times in his childhood, and he began to write songs that reflected hardship, love, pain, and redemption. Influences like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, and country music radio helped shape the direction Adam was taking his music. " Music always has been the best outlet for me. My true desire is to write songs and deliver them in a way that people can feel them deeply. I want to relate. There are alot of great singers and songwriters doing it everyday, and I hope to be among them."
Now in Nashville, Adam plays writers Nights, and performs with his high-energy, rockin' country band in local and out of town clubs. He has released two albums of original material, a roots album, and is currently working on a brand new project featuring Adam's new songs and band.
" My goal in Nashville is to entertain. I will work and write every day with that purpose before me. I hope and pray that God will use me in a way to reach and touch as many people with my music as possible. I am living my dream."
