Lackawanna Carriage Works "Minnesota" Jax Traxx
Lackawanna Carriage Works originally formed around June of 2007 as a collaboration between Damion Waters and Brennan Hamill after the bands they were in, Sensei and ¡Dang! respectively, both broke up on the same day.
Needing a drummer, they turned to the late ¡Dang! manager, lawyer-musician extraordinaire Adam Deli. Ryan Turk, having worked with Damion before in prior music ventures, was a natural fit into the mix. He brought an accomplished musical background as a songwriter, performer, musician, producer...well you get the gist of it. Brennan was prepared to play bass himself until he remembered that one of the stalwart fans of ¡Dang!, Kevin Peffer, could also play bass. Kevin was quickly brought on board and proved himself more than ready to serve as the band's harmonic foundation.
Thus set as a 5-piece ensemble and armed with an extensive back-catalogue of unique songs written by several of the band's prolific songwriters, Lackawanna Carriage Works entered the music scene and began performing shows. Something was still missing, and by consensus the band began the search for a pianist to fill the gap. He was found and recommended by another ex-¡Dang! member in the person of Jeremy Nix, thus cementing the band at 6 members. The Work's first show as a full band was on 9/15/07 at Jack Rabbit's, almost 3 months after the band initially formed.
In March of 2008, Damion left for NYC to pursue his career. One year after joining, Jeremy left the band to live in Gainesville, FL while attending medical school. He was replaced by Chris Stow. Kevin Peffer left the band to pursue something or other. John Mortonson now plays bass.

Band Website: This is it.
Band Members: Brennan Hamill - (guitars, mandolin, vocals, keys, feedback) - As a human, Brennan found little time to do the things that really made him happy. One day he took charge of his existence and began treatments to become more than human. Sadly, the treatments failed. ob la di ob la da.

chris "old crow" stow - (keys and guitar)Known as Stow by most, Chris started playing saxophone at age 9. Not taking well to authority, he quit in high school and persued his other passion in college, painting. While at art school he fell in love with the dynamics of the guitar and immediately started his experimental band Jon Todd. the band toured the country and released 3 records. The band lived the lifestyle, which eventually brought their demise. After performing with different local acts he has now found a home with the LCW, and we think he might even enjoy it.

Ryan Turk - (guitar, vocals) - Currently 31 years old, Ryan graduated from the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts with a major in creative writing and a minor in vocal music/chorus. He then worked his way through an Audio Engineering degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta, graduating in 1996. He's been involved in several local bands such as Lovecraft, Sometimes Always, Super Excitables, Bi Polar Bears and most recently joined The Ignatious Wrylys on their 2007 summer tour before leaving to join The Works. He has worked in local studios recording bands and has experience running live sound in nightclubs. His current project is running a small family-owned indie label called Pawn Shop Blues Records, a division of Abe Livert Records est.1936. Most importantly he is a husband a father to two little boys.

Larry Jarrill - (pedal-steel guitar) Larry is a native of St. Augustine. He plays show with us on occasions when he can make the time. We thoroughly enjoy the beautiful music Larry brings into the Lackawanna sound.

John Mortensen – (bass and vocals) - John acquired a Sears bass at age 14 and a first degree black belt shortly thereafter. When not jamming or chopping he was likely playing Colecovision. Although now in the possession of extraordinarily capable fine motor skills, John continues to struggle with minimal success when called to grow quality facial hair. He is grateful for the opportunity to study with such accomplished cultivators as LCW.Chris Pettit - We are proud to announce that Chris is our new drummer, his bio is comming soon...Dennis Ho - We are also proud to announce the Dennis is our new Piano, Organ, Synth player...This is hands down the best Lackawanna line up ever, and well show ya, just come out to the shows...
Influences: With 5 band members, each person brings their own unique and varied background into the ensemble....but it ends up sounding like something halfway in between Gram Parsons and Wilco.
Sounds Like: the recordings that we have up top...
