About Me

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&am p;videoid=15573013In December of 1975 the essence of the Good Shepherd Church of God In Christ was conceived by a word of prophesy by Sister Roslyn Daniels, in the home of Elder and Sister Olive Haney. It was after Christmas dinner in 1975, when the six were praying, that God impressed upon them a need to begin praying and sharing together as a group. the group consisted of Elder David and Sister Claudette Copeland, Dr. Roosevelt and Sister Roslyn Daniels and Elder Oliver and Sister LaVerne Haney. The group of six met for several months from house to house, and then the Lord led them to expand to include others. Other members joined as they were inspired by God, and were blessed by the ministry of the group. In January of 1977 the expanded group began sharing that sanctuary of St. Peter's Baptist Church at 900 Huff Road. For three months, from January to March, services were held on Sunday and Wednesday nights, reaching out to the Blantown area of Atlanta. Beginning in March of 1977, the official opening and dedication of good Shepherd was held with Bishop Leroy Anderson of Buffalo, New York. Morning and evening worship continued at 900 Huff Rd. until the building was no longer available. In September, 1977 the Lord led us to 1842 Candler in Decatur. We worshiped in this building until the beginning of 1979. The Lord opened the doors at 118 Second Avenue in Decatur (Oakhurst Presbyterian Church) for the growing congregation to worship. While at this location Elder David Copeland, the founding pastor felt led of the Lord to vacate the pulpit of the church to do full-time ministy as a chaplain in the United States Air Force. The successor and present pastor is Elder Ralph E. Lewis. Elder Lewis began the pastorate the first Sunday in April, 1981. When Oakhurst Presbyterian Church was no longer available, Pastor Lewis led the congregation to the corner of Boulevard and Whitefoord Street in Atlanta. We began sharing that building with the Temple of Deliverance in the summer of 1984. Holding fast to God's promises we began searching for a home for the Good Shepherd congregation. Sometimes it seemed that we would not find a building to purchase. We worshipped in Pastor's basement for a few months. But God in His infinite wisdom had everything in His master plan. Finally,on July 28, 1985 God allowed the congregation to march into the first building owned by the Good Shepherd Church of God in Christ at 2151 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia. Once again God's hand of destiny moved in the life of Good Shepherd. In 1995 after much prayer, Pastor Lewis then a district Superintendent, resigned his position and withdrew the church from Central Georgia Jursidiction of Church of God in Christ. Shortly after that God gave a sure Word and we officially withdrew from the Church of God in Christ in 1996. In October of 1996 New Day Ministries, International was conceived. Pastor Lewis was asked by a quorum of church leaders to be the presiding bishop of this fellowship of churches and ministries. November 28, 1997, Elder Lewis was consecrated as the presiding Bishop of New day Ministries, Int'l.
