My Interests

The past few years my fascination with energy has escalated. If the sun’s energy can make a flower bloom or the lack of it can kill a plant, what kind of energy does the moon have? What about crystals? If they aren’t conduits for energy, why do we put them in watches? Why is it if we are in love we are bubbling with energy and if we’re depressed, we can hardly get out of bed? Why do we say we are “blue”? How does the color red stimulate our appetite? Why is it with some music we can’t sit still and other types completely relax us, how can music affect unborn babies? What is the formula for spontaneous combustion? Why is it I can walk across a rug and get a spark when I touch someone? What about centrifugal force? If the car is turning, why does my body still want to move forward? Why do we accept these events and take them for granted? Aren’t they just tips of icebergs? I am certain that our perceptions of energy are not clear and far from comprehensive. Rupert Sheldrake’s book “Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home” was probably the impetus for heightening my interest. He uses quantum physics to explain perceptive phenomena that occur between humans and animals. If there are magnetic fields are there morphic fields? Why do two of the oldest religions, Hinduism and Buddhism, acknowledge the power of energy fields? I am avidly interested in the answers and love thinking, researching and observing just about anything to do with them. ************************************************************ *************** I enjoy growing flowers, especially all forms of Jasmine, purple Wisteria, Passionflowers - Passiaflora Alata, Bird of Paradise, English Lavender, Clematis - Jackmanii, and Calla Lilies. I am fond of dark purple and maroon colored blooms. I love seeing the hills filled with Poppies and wild Freesia in the spring. The smell of blooming Honeysuckle, Orange trees, Jasmine and Lavender, takes my breath away, am also constantly amazed at the many activities of the Caper plant. ************************************************************ *************** I love swimming in the Mediterranean, I prefer it to be a little rough, I also love horseback riding in the surf. The horses can open up on the sand, not like on land, the only obstacles being an occasional castle and as I've recently discovered, quick sand. I suppose a race track would be the only comparable terrain. It’s exhilarating; the adrenalin rush of both horse and rider is infectious (another energy event). ************************************************************ *************** My weaknesses are books, music and jewelry; I also have an inexplicable attraction to black cars (German or English), black cats, black horses, and leopard and zebra prints??? Don’t know why but the sight of them can stop me in my tracks. ************************************************************ ***************

I'd like to meet:

Cleopatra, Mark Darcy and Mae West. /div

Music:

Need Bocelli and Zappa daily, Zeppelin, older Pretenders, Elvis, The Jackie Gleason Orchestra, Norah Jones, Pink Floyd, Patsy Cline, Hillary Stagg, The Stones, Peggy Lee, Rachmaninoff, Sade, Lee Clayton, John Mayer and Aerosmith are a few favorites.

Movies:

Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, Shawshank Redemption, Romeo is Bleeding, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bridget Jones's Diary, Pulp Fiction, Pride and Prejudice, American Beauty, K-Pax, Chocolat, Shanghai Noon, Sunset Boulevard, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing, The Professional and of course A Streetcar Named Desire.

Television:

Don't watch much, do like House, enjoyed Sex and the City, the British version of The Office and The Black Adder. When I was a kid I liked a show called Wild Wild West but I'm not sure, it might have been Robert Conrad in those cowboy outfits, or the clever gizmos, hard to tell....I have a weakness for both.

Books:

Immortality, actually anything by Milan Kundera, Steinbeck, Oscar Wilde, Deepak Chopra, Maya Angelou, Twain, Tennessee Williams, Jane Austin, Gloria Steinem, O. Henry, Hemingway's short stories (Find the emotional complexity of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber absolutely brilliant, upsetting, but brilliant.) West with the Night by Beryl Markham, Timebends by Arthur Miller, The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe by Jane Wagner, Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson and The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. Enjoy clean, tight writing that makes me think, love exploring a variety of perspectives.

Heroes:

Mae West, Oscar Wilde, Zappa and anyone else who has the chutzpah to be true to themselves and not mindlessly conform to society's fickle stipulations.

The panther

Her vision, from the constantly passing bars, has grown so weary that it cannot hold anything else.  It seems to her there are a thousand bars; and behind the bars, no world.  As she paces...
