. . . . . With the support of his loving parents, Joey Melotti began his musical journey at the age of 5, starting with the accordion-cutting his first piece of vinyl at 8 years old! At age 11 he moved on to the piano reading his sister Vanessa's lessons, and at 13, decided to move on to organ. Playing in local bands and enjoying the thriving music scene of New Haven, Connecticut, he continued to grow, meeting wonderful players and enjoying creative studio projects . . .His first official road tour was in 1976 with Vickie Sue Robinson, of "Turn the Beat Around" fame. Following that he traveled with Eartha Kitt as piano/conductor, and then formed a local jazz group, "The Joe Melotti Quartet", releasing a classic album called "Live at the Foundry" . . .He then hooked up with the Michael Bolton Band, another New Haven native, for a US tour opening up for Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band in 1983. In the late-80's he toured with Rickie Lee Jones, Felix Cavaliere, and then globetrotted with Barry Manilow for 3 years before returning to support Michael as musical director for the majority of the 90's, slipping in a Southeast Asian tour as MD conducting orchestra for Barry Manilow in '92 . . . Following Michael, he MD'd for Julio Iglesias & Liza Minnelli, while also conducting for many prestigious events produced by David Gest, notably the CBS TV Special "Michael Jackson's 30th Annivesary Special", reuniting the famed Jackson 5 . . .Presently you will find Joey at the Las Vegas Hilton, happy to be back on solid ground with probably one of the most amazing performing artists alive, Barry Manilow! . . .Joey endorses Kawai Piano's . . .
