ONE - My Spanish villa. 4 years ago we decided to buy a place in Spain. We had lookde around for a long time but the price of property was getting dearer and the possibility of us affording something was getting more and more distant. Then we discovered the "Costa De Luz" - prices were (relatively) cheap, but more important it was still Spain - No English Pubs, Sunday Roasts or Burger King's. We finally settled in a place called Pinar De La Franceses which is in Chiclana about 20 minutes away from Cadiz. It's in the middle of nowhere (well, 10 minute drive to the shop) and a residential area where (at the moment) is almost all Spanish. We hav'nt got satellite TV so have to watch "Spanish" TV, cannot pick up any English radio stations and only when we're lucky can get hold of a Brit newspaper - heaven. Try to get out there for a long weekend about every 6/7 weeks and totally chill out !!!
TWO - Poker. Used to play cards at work but never really got "into" poker - that was until the advent of Online Poker............. more later. For my "BIG" birthday I had the treat of 7 days in Vegas - a total suprise !!! We stayed at Caesars, which I have to say was fantastic. My wife told them it was my 50th and they upograded the room - all I can say was it was fantastic (we had a hot tub it the bedroom). The atmosphere of the place was overwealming but what stiked me the most was that it appeared (!!) to be totally classless unlike in the U.K. where you immediately notice peoples attitude towards you by what you are wearing, ie. completely different if I am wearing jeans as opposed to a suit. I suppose in Vegas they dont know whether to are a millionaire wearing jeans so just cut their losses by treating everyone as if their millionaires. Enjoyed it so much we went again the following year for my wifes 50th, id the same in telling them it was a spcecial occasion and Caesars upgraded us again - this time to an even better room (perhaps they thoght we were highrollers by now). The room was just spectacular, it overlookered Belegio's fountains and each even we had our "own" set of displays (we also had a plasma TV in the BATHROOM). All well, back to reality. Yes, I enjoyed online poker and play 4/5 times a week online. I prefer 7 card stud but that dos'nt seem to be too popular and you end up waiting too long for a table to start so I had to take up "Texas Hold 'Em". Still making LOTS of mistakes, but then I'm not in it for the money (although great when you win) but more for the enjoyment. Might see you sometime on line perhaps !!!
