About Me

I have just purchased a one way ticket to Africa, I will be leaving for Kenya on 23rd July 2008, I will fly into Nairobi where I will be doing 8 weeks Volunteer work in a rural Orphanage looking after children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS or have been abused by their parents. I will assist with the daily running of the orphanage; cleaning, bathing children, cooking etc. The evenings are spent playing with the children and helping them with their homework. Whilst working, I will be living with a Kenyan family, where I will have the opportunity to live as a local person and gain an insight into Kenyan life.After my volunteer work, I will be going on an 6 week tour of Africa with Kumuka World Travel, I will be starting in Kenya then travel to Uganda to do a gorilla trek, then back through Kenya to Tanzania (where I will spend my 27th birthday), then to Zanzibar, through Malawi over to Zambia and then down to Zimbabwe where I will then finish the tour at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

After my tour ends in Zimbabwe, I am thinking of spending two weeks in Zim to explore.. and then kick off a new tour with Kumuka, (which is actually and extention of the first one) and travel through Botswana and over to Namibia, and finish off in South Africa (which is the only country I am not keen on visiting). I will then fly back to Kenya just before New Years Eve. I would then love to visit Mombasa and travel up through Kenya past Maralal where I hope to visit the Masai Warriors in their villages.
I have now decided that I will travel back to Uganda and stay there for a little while, and see if I can help out in an Orphanage there. If money permits I then plan to travel to Ethiopia and Egypt.This trip has slowly extended itself and if all goes to plan, I will be in Africa for a minimum of 8 months..

My Interests

At the moment, my main interest is Africa; I also love Photography and Painting (although I donâ€™t do much of either)

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet people that make me smile, who are genuine and happy within themselves and are proud of the life they lead. I want to meet people who inspire me and bring out the best in me.
Oh, and Prince Charming.. HAHA.. where are youuuu??

Music:

I love all types of music, whatever makes me want to dance, sing, smile and cry.. not a fan of Country and Western..

Movies:

My new favourite movie is The White Masai - my main inspiration for wanting to travel to Africa.. Blood Diamond, Last King of Scotland.. Other faves are Almost Famous, Empire Records, I am Sam, Click, Dirty Dancing, mostly stupid romantic comedies so I donâ€™t have to think and it has a happy ending!

Television:

I love.. So You Think You Can Dance, Californication, Greys Anatomy, Everybody Loves Raymond, My Wife and Kids, What about Brian, Things to Try Before you Die, Desperate Housewives..

Books:

I donâ€™t read all that much, but my favourite books ever are The White Masai, Back from Arica and Reunion in Barsoloi, these books are a true story, written by a woman named Corrine Hoffman - very very inspirational.. The other books I am currently reading are Heart of Darfur, and Lonely Planet books, Africa and Kenya..

Heroes:

My baby cousin Greta is my Hero, she had leukaemia for 6 years and passed away when she was eight, taken from this world all too soon, but is now my little Angel up in Heaven xx
