THE HISTORY OF THE DYING INFINITE, or more recently known as "culture creep":
In Spring of 2007, I, Gene, decided to re-group my old electro-symphonic goth band, The Dying Infinite, but this time with more of an 80s deathrock approach to exploring new ideas of post-punk, with a full rock band ensemble. The Dying Infinite was first founded in Spring of 2001, in Palm Springs, California with my old friend, Joshua R. Lorton. In December of 2001 we released 2 tracks on Invisible Records, on the "Notes From Thee Real Underground Vol.2" compilation series (which is out of print but I saved some copies if anyone is interested). Lorton and I stopped working together before the "Notes" compilation was ever released and The Dying Infinite was left as something I could possibly resurrect later on.
In Winter of 2007 I started writing songs for the Dying Infinite again. From Spring, '07 all the way to February, 09 the line-up had many different collaborators such as Gene Smith-vocals/guitars/programming/synths Aaron Schaller-lead/rythm Guitar, Sierra-Bass/guitars/vocals, Josh-acoustic drums, Jester-vocals, Azriel Sin-Bass, and Chatchay Ramone-Bass. We were broken up and seized to exist in February 2009, except in the memories of our recordings and pictures on this web page, and on the DVD I have of our last show. (If anyone would like a copy of the DVD, contact me through this page.)
Those were some fun times that I will never forget.
-Gene
