PIND

What to do in the town in Iceland most famous for car loving scooter and europop maniacs? Old school rock and roll and punk was certainly not the most obvious chose in Selfoss early 2004,when a couple off friends began playing together in the garage by the house Bjork grew up in. The band PIND (punk is not dead), named after a dead kennedys t-shirt,set out to play rock and rool straight from the heart with all the blood sweat and spirit they could master. Influenced by many band such as The stooges,the sex pistols,nirvana,the beatles,the doors and many others. The first line up was Numi(guitar), Svenni "the Saint"(drums) and Omar(bass). The trio began putting together songs,based on some off numi's riffs and ideas. It was soon clear that hardcore punk was not the way the band was heading,as more melodic rock based songs began to surface. This ment that bass player Omar (who began playing only at the band's first practice,in a true punk spirit) had trouble keeping up with the band's more complicated songs.Still playing without a vocalist,the trio spent one drunken Saturday night recording their first song,Junkie,in the garage. Omar always inclined be sing anyway threw his bass and began making love to the microphonestand,growling his own lyrics to the song,based on a car accident he caused on a drunken night.Happilly shelfcasing his bass for the microphone, the band now needed a new bass player Svenni jr, witch they found in a local band, Haraldur. Now PIND was truly born. The band spent the rest off the year practicing and gigging from time to time. The played, amongst others, in the now infamous Anti- hnakk-fest where they, after refusing to stop playing,by order from the police(the manager of the concert apperantly forgot to get permission from the authorites) where dragged off-stage by the officers off the law,causing a riot in the crowd in front off the stage. Relocating in Reykjavik in the beginning off 2005, they have been practicing like madmen for upcoming recording sessions in London,fall 2005.
