About Me
War used to be a thing on TV,
People getting shot, stabbed and thrown into a river that runs red,
It used to be in Iraq, Bosnia Vietnam,
Now it's in Lewisham, Catford and Belingham,
When I was young we used to fight with our fists,
A buise, broken nose thats all that was missed,
Now it's a son, a daughter a friend,
Killed over something so petty in the end.
Fear changes everything, family anf friends,
How far we have come from where we used to be,
Seniors tells stories of being stoned by racists,
Our kids now tell stories of getting stabbed by their own faces. The news is dominated by drums of war,
A father shot dead because he asked you not to smoke your draw,
How many times have you walked the streets,
Seen a group of young black kids and not quickend your feet?
Been on a bus or train and been afraid to speak,
As they fight amoungst themselves because of a seat,
I'm afraid for my children both born and not,
What sense of the world will they make?
Will they live to see what a man and woman should?
Or will I, like many have to do something so wrong,
As to bury your own when they should still be standing strong,
Cut down before their life has begun,
With the last thing they ever saw, the cold end of a gun......
